Our Environmental Data and Climate Storytelling team works on the suite of public research interventions on Data Stories and Climate Sensing that have grown out of the DataRefuge project, including work on our Data Remediations blog and podcast and the new My Climate Story initiative launched this September.

Grace Boroughs (a senior in the college, majoring in Environmental Management and Sustainability, with minors in Fine Arts and Urban Studies) and Katie Collier (a sophmore PPE major in the college) have returned for their second year as public research interns, and will serve as important ambassadors for the newer members of the team. Read their introductory blog post from last April here.

Brand new to the team are:

Evelyn (Evie) Sorrell, a College of Arts and Sciences sophomore studying Environmental Policy, with experience as a public speaker and tour guide for the Alaska railroad.

Alejandra Villalobos, a second-year graduate student in the International Educational Development Program at Penn's Graduate School of Education, with experience as an outdoor educator and community facilitator.

Piotr Wojcik, a senior urban studies major in the College with skills in graphic design and photography and experience working with community groups in Philadelphia and Detroit.

In the spring semester, we will also be joined by Daniel Cooper, a junior in the College studying environmental science and English, excited to bring his experience conducting advocacy work with PennEnvironment to the Environmental Data and Climate Storytelling team.

The new climate finance and documentation interns will spend the year generating original research at the intersection of climate solutions, finance, green infrastructure, and climate communication, in tandem with the 2019-2020 Total Impact Portfolio Challenge (TIPC) organized by the Wharton Social Impact Initiative. The team (pictured in full above), includes three student Eco-reps from the Penn Sustainability office, and brings to the project a wide range of views about the potential of business to offer solutions to our climate crisis:

Maria Murad, a junior in the college majoring in Environmental Anthropology with minors in Ancient History and Music, who believes "big environmental change will only occur through economic reform."

Anna Hardie, also a junior in the college studying Environmental Science with a minor in Sustainability & Environmental Management. Anna is "excited to learn more about... the role the business world can play in shaping a more sustainable future."

Vysnavi Kosigishroff, a college sophmore in the college with majors in Environmental Studies and Economics. She is "is interested in researching the methods through which corporate power is the root of and a potential solution to the climate dilemma."

Greg Glova, a college a sophomore majoring in Bioengineering and minoring in Architecture and Environmental Sustainability and Management. He hopes "to one day be at the forefront of designing and implementing technologies to create greener cities."

Brandon Nguyen is a junior studying Political Science in the college and Environmental Policy & Management at the Wharton School of Business. Through his work with the team, Brandon hopes "to better acquaint himself on how innovative financing mechanisms can be used to better propel sustainable solutions."

and

Alexandre Imbot, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences pursuing a degree in Sustainability and Environmental Management with a minor in Economic Policy, who looks forward to the "unique opportunity [offered by the internship] to create, communicate, and improve the tools necessary for the cleaner, more equitable future we deserve."
